FOIA Case Files Expose Pentagon Media Exchanges on UAP
Division released a set of case files to researcher John Greenewald Jr. of The Black Vault that, taken together, document how Pentagon public affairs officials handled press inquiries about the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, the resignation of Luis Elizondo, and Navy footage of unidentified aerial phenomena. The records span two dockets: case 22-F-0898, a final response dated September 28, 2022 to a request Greenewald filed on May 5, 2022, in which the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Privacy, Civil Liberties, and Transparency located 96 responsive pages; and case 21-F-0946, an earlier request dated May 3, 2021 that sought all emailed communications between Pentagon spokespersons Christopher Sherwood and/or Susan Gough and New York Post journalist Steven Greenstreet, with a search window beginning October 1, 2017.
